The Jean Monnet Center for International and Regional Economic Law & Justice will present the Fourteenth Annual Emile Noël Lecture on the State of the (European) Union on Thursday 20 September 2018 at 6:30 p.m in Lipton Hall, D’Agostino Hall, 110 West 3rd Street. This year’s lecture “Europe and the state of the Kingdom of Spain: Current Challenges, Future Promise” will host Josep Borrell Fontelles, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation, Kingdom of Spain, for a “Fireside Chat” with Professor Joseph Weiler, University Professor and Director of The Jean Monnet Center. The conversation will touch, inter alia, on the difficult challenges facing Europe as a whole, such as the migration crisis, the rise of populism and the advent of “illiberal democracies” as well as the equally difficult challenges facing Spain such as Catalonia.
