Visiting Fellowships and Research
Details and Application Information
Post-doctoral scholars and professorial visitors holding academic positions in other universities who are in full-time residence (non-teaching) here at the Law School may be appointed as Alberico Gentili Fellows of the Program in the History and Theory of International Law. Applications should be sent to the Hauser Global Law School Program office, which provides funding on a competitive basis for Hauser Research Fellows and Global Fellows, and also receives applications on a competitive basis for the (unfunded) Visiting Doctoral Researchers Program. Due dates and requirements for applications are posted on the Hauser Global Law School website. Prospective visiting fellows whose interests focus on the core work of the Program in the History and Theory of International Law are advised first to contact the Program to discuss possible sponsorship of the application. Fulltime doctoral students of non-law departments of universities in the greater New York area, whose work is directly focused on central concerns of the Program, may also be invited to participate informally in activities of the Program - such students should ask their doctoral supervisor to contact Professor Benedict Kingsbury.
The Program also provides a home and an IILJ affiliation for scholars working on aspects of public international law more generally (not human rights, international economic law, law and development, national security law, or private international law, which are addressed by other centers and programs). Post-doctoral scholars and professorial visitors in this category may be appointed as Crystal Eastman Fellows. Applications should be made to the Hauser Global Law School office (as above), and prospective applicants should separately contact the IILJ, to discuss possible sponsorship of such application.
