Permanent Mission of Palau to the United Nations
Technical Assistance to the Permanent Mission of Palau to the United Nations
In response to a request from the Permanent Representative of Palau to the United Nations, the Institute provides technical assistance to Palau's Mission to the United Nations.
Palau achieved independence in 1994, but established a mission to the UN only in April 2004.
The Institute’s contribution, in large part through the work of IILJ Scholars, has included research on issues such as Law of the Sea, Environmental Law, and Financial Regulation, as well as attendance at meetings to present Palau's formal position and report back to the Ambassador.
IILJ Scholars participating in the program include:
2007-2008: Anna Cavnar, Matt Haar, Alexis Blaine, Christen Broecker, Sasha Khrebtukova
2006-2007: Alexis Blaine, Christen Broecker, Anna Cavnar, Andrew Friedman
2005-2006: Peter Prows, David Y Livshiz, Jared Schott, Amanda Rawls
2004-2005: Nick Arons, Cade Mosley, and Jared Wessel (Nick Arons also worked in the office of the Vice President, focusing on maritime issues)
