The Tikvah Annual Conference: The Enduring Legacy of Just and Unjust Wars - 35 Years Later. In conjunction with The Jean Monnet Center for International and Regional Economic Law & Justice, the European Journal of International Law, and the Institute for International Law and Justice, The Tikvah Center presented its first Annual Conference in Fall 2010. The conference honored the 35th anniversary of Michael Walzer’s seminal book, Just and Unjust Wars. Draft papers presented at the conference are available.

Launch of New Report on Foreign Land Deals and Human Rights. The Center for Human Rights and Global Justice (CHRGJ) and the Institute for International Law and Justice (IILJ) launched a new CHRGJ report on foreign land deals and human rights. The launch included a panel discussion featuring Olivier De Schutter, U.N. A Conversation with the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Luis Moreno-Ocampo. This was a rare event to participate in a candid conversation with Luis Moreno-Ocampo, the first prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. Conflict of Laws in International Commercial Arbitration - a three-day conference at the Verona University School of Law in Verona, Italy. This conference examined conflict of laws in various contexts, such as jurisdiction, procedure, and adjudication of the merits of a case. The center’s executive director, Franco Ferrari, currently the Inge Rennert Distinguished Visiting Professor of Law at NYU and a professor at Verona University School of Law, delivered the opening remarks. On March 19, Linda Silberman, Martin Lipton Professor of Law, joined Ferrari to discuss what law should apply to the merits of an international dispute. Co-sponsored by the Center for Transnational Litigation and Commercial Law.
