The 15th Annual Herbert and Justice Rose Luttan Rubin International Law Symposium: The Privatization of Development Assistance. This symposium provided a forum for an inter-disciplinary academic discussion of the phenomenon of the privatization of development assistance. The objectives were to generate scholarly analyses that would map the dimensions of the phenomenon and shed light on the associated policy questions. This symposium was made possible through the generous support of the Carnegie Corporation of New York.

Book launch: Climate Finance: Regulatory and Funding Strategies for Climate Change and Green Development. As a part of the inauguration of the new NYU Straus Institute for the Advanced Study of Law & Justice, Nobel laureate Amartya Sen and UN Global Compact Executive Director Georg Kell will speak.  The book was edited by Professor Richard Stewart, IILJ Director Professor Benedict Kingsbury and CELUL Fellow Bryce Rudyk and includes an essays from IILJ Fellow Sarah Dadush and Professor Kevin Davis, from Professor Robert Howse, and from former IILJ Scholars Alexandra Khrebtukova and Sandra Mayson.

IILJ GAL Workshop in Beijing. NYU School of Law and Tsinghua University School of Law co-sponsored an international conference on “Legal Issues in the Process of Globalization: Globalization and Legal Governance”. The conference focused on the legal issues brought about by the globalization. The areas covered by the conference included legal aspects of: 1. environment, energy and climate, 2. intellectual property, 3. international finance, trade and investment, 4. international economic regulation and developing countries, 5. food safety, medical service and public health, 6. interactions between international rules and institutions and domestic law and institutions in these fields, 7. general theory of global regulatory governance and global administrative law. The aim was to explore the processes by which rules are made and regulatory institutions operate in these areas, including critiques and proposals for possible improvements or innovations.

IILJ-Hauser Global Conference in Abu Dhabi: "Climate Change: Financing Green Development". This conference addressed the structure, regulation, and governance of the various forms of climate finance in relation to investment and development in developing countries. It represents the first concerted effort to address this critical complex of issues. The conference engaged not only academics but representatives of the climate finance industry, developing countries, multinational businesses, international organizations, and NGOs.
